On the first, a long par four,
Slight dog-leg to the right.
Tricky drive, just watch the ball.
Imagine it in flight.
Easy swing, it’s in the sky,
Towards the flag we roll.
Disbelief, oh what a shot,
It’s gone into the hole!
Hang on though, there’s more to this,
I sliced it much too far.
It’s the 18th green, a round in one,
I’m 70 under par!

Years ago, I was playing in a charity golf tournament in Darlington and lost my ball after slicing it off the first tee. We found it 200 yards away – in the hole on the 18th. The story of the first recorded ’round in one’ went worldwide. I’m a rubbish golfer – but no-one will ever better that!
