If I died without seeing it coming,
Rejoice – there’s no need to be sad.
I’ve been lucky to die in the blink of an eye,
A death many more wish they’d had.
If I died in a way that spared me from pain,
Start up the music and dance.
Share my delight, I went out like a light,
Unlike those never given that chance.
If I died in my sleep without waking one day,
It wasn’t as bad as it seemed.
There’s no need to despair, instead punch the air,
I was living – or dying – the dream.
If I died and the end was a bolt from the blue,
Give thanks I escaped my worst fears.
Taken too soon? No, I’m over the moon,
Raise a glass to the sky and say cheers!
