A load on my mind

On the road today,
It was just my luck
To find myself stuck
Behind a flatbed truck.
And while being stuck
I was suddenly struck
By whether another forklift truck
Had lifted up the forklift truck
Then stuck it on the flatbed truck.
And – fork larity – at t’other end,
Had they forked out for
Yet another forklift truck
To lift the forklift truck
Back off the flatbed truck?
Which, eventually, I overtook.

(A very silly poem inspired by a comment made by my wife while we were stuck in a traffic jam. She suddenly mused: “I wonder if they used a forklift truck to get that forklift truck on the back of that truck.”
I thought to myself – that’s poetry, right there!)
